This is a very popular home removal method for skin tags as it is easy, inexpensive and relatively painless. It involves cutting off the blood supply to the skin. As skin tags are mainly made up of blood vessels and collagen, cutting off the blood to the skin tag causes it to shrivel up and die. To cut off the blood supply to the skin tag, you need to choke it at the base of the skin tag using something like dental floss or Tagbands.

Make sure the dental floss is clean and sterile. Tie it tightly around the base of the skin tag. Leave it there until the skin tag changes color and falls off. An easier method for ligating skin tags on your neck is Tagbands, a commercial product.   Tagbands come in 2 sizes and have an easy applicator for placing a small band over the skin tag and tightly around the base.
