Cryosurgery: Freezing off skin tags is a popular method of removal for many doctors. Using a liquid nitrogen spray, your doctor will freeze the skin tag, killing off the cells and blood supply. After a few days, it will turn black and eventually fall off. Freezing skin tags is also an option for at home treatment. You can easily purchase a home freezing kit and get rid of your skin tags yourself at home.

Cauterization: A cautery pen has a heated tip. Your doctor will use this heated tip to quickly burn off the skin tag at the base of the stalk that attaches the skin tag to your skin. This option also helps minimize bleeding when removing the skin tags. You may have a small scab remaining at the site where the skin tag was, but this will disappear after a few days. Take proper care of the area following the procedure to help minimize scarring.

This can be done by tying a piece of (sterile) dental floss tightly around the base of the skin tag. Leave it there until the skin tag changes color and disappears.
